2012 bottle = drank it too soon??
Nice beer, bitter flavor w/ some smokiness present, um, could be "creamy"er?

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
2015 edition purchased in Vermont. Pours a clean deep amber, kind of copper colour with a fizzy head that disappears quickly and no lace. Roasted grain aromas with some nuttiness and hints of fruits. The taste has the same reminding me of a more roasted and nutty malt red ale. Some decent hops in the finish creating a mild dryness. Not sure about the bock style, but as a red ale (ok, lager), pretty nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This was poured into a pilsener glass and rated as a regular "bock." Not sure why ratebeer says "dimpled mug" or "snifter" for a bock, I’m gonna let that one go and proceed with correct glassware for this review.
The appearance was a hazy dark bronzed orange to brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about less than thirty seconds. Filmy/semi-thick lacing runs in a messy sort of way around the glass.
The smell starts off with a sweet breadiness running into light raisin, sweet apple, a light vanilla, and sweet cherry. Caramel tones do run nicely underneath.
The taste takes the previously mentioned flavors and uses them to smooth it all out emphatically sweet and barely any bitterness (as a bock should be!, but then again, this is an aged review as well). Creamy sweet apple to cherry and a slight little bit of cocoa aftertaste running into a sweet wet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation runs nice and smooth (really light/good).
Overall, this is a really good Bock made for the holidays. I can only imagine what its like fresh and can’t wait for RA to come out with this year’s batch.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A handsome, dark amber pour with a decent head. Appealing label and name. The aroma is not too noteworthy. To me it tasted like a brown ale or amber, but it calls itself a bock lager. There is a little bready sweetness to start, but dryness wins out. There is a little molasses and iron, and it has some complexity for sure. Nothing really connects this brew to Christmas (other than the photo on the label), but it is a good one.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2014 vintage bomber from the brewery. Clear dark red-brown, thin fizzy tan head. Good retention. Aroma of toasted malt, raisin, chocolate. The taste is caramel, toasted malt, nuts, herbal hops, mild spice. Medium bodied, low carbonation.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
From the 2013 batch. Good brown pour with off-white head. Aromas of vanilla or caramel malts with a vague smoky or perhaps spiced character. But also a kind of cardboard feel to it. Earthy mild hops. The body is medium. The taste embraces nuttiness over the caramel malts I noted on the nose with a slightly bitter bite on the backside.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The beer is full of nutty vanilla and toffee aromas. It pours a deep cloudy amber color, with minimal head that dissipates quickly. Medium sweetness up front and a lightly bitter finish. It has medium body a thin feel and soft carbonation. It is kind of weird to be drinking a Vermont Christmas beer in Hawaii during February but it paired well with some sharp Vermont Cheddar and definitely hit the spot.

Taste : Toffee with spices. Light alcohol. Finish dry with light toffee, light hops and spices. Light bitterness.
Palate : Rather smooth carbonation. Palate is thin. Quaffable.
Overall : Interesting caramel with interesting spices. Mouthfeel is a bit disappointing. Quite drinkable. Appearance is very disappointing. Meh...
