Strong sweet aroma, with hints of fruit. Pours a clear dark ruby, with a full white head. Not much in the way of malt flavor, just some sweetness, with a moderate bitter finish. Slightly slick mouthfeel, with a moderate body. Not a bad barley wine, but not a great one either.

Purchased in Vermont in their mixed pack. Pours a clean dark amber colour, almost copper. Small head, beige with not much follow-up. Beautiful spices in the nose with the barley malt, fruitiness and hints of molasses. Fruity flavours with malt, light sweetness and decent bitter hop in the finish. Quite easy to drink. Surprised to find a barley wine in a taster pack. Glad though.

YigSvartka (274) - Manitoba, CANADA - FEB 19, 2016
Opaque brown hue with a slight tint of purple and an immediately vanishing dark brown head. Pleasant, but slightly lacking in vigrousness aroma with notes of plum, chocolate, roast, and raisins. Relatively light bodied for a barley wine. Dry dark chocolate and roast dominate with minor characteristics of raisin and plum tartness with a dry finish. Good, but lacks robustness.

Tap at Reservoir, Waterbury. Colour is clear dark copper with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Some dry fruits, some sweetness and malts. Very boring. I donít get point of this one.

Red brown pour. Fast vanishing head. Aroma brown sugar, caramel. Tastes malt syrup, iron. Watery palate. Barleywinr light here. Not a bad idea.

From the12 fl. oz bottle. Looks like it expires in June 2019. Brown pour with reddish hues. Not much head. The aroma has a sweet roasted barley malt character with a hint of dark fruit. The body is light to medium. The taste is sweet and malty with a mild bitterness at the end. Not as pungent and biting as most Barleywines but easy enough to drink as a stand alone.

Bottle. Sweet grape and caramel aroma. Sweet taste with spicy undertones throughout. Not as bad as the score led me to think it would be. Not bad.

Draft sample at the source. Poured a clear amber color, tiny bubbly tan head. Aroma or caramel, sweet malts. Flavor had some toffee and caramel. Very light and thin for a baley wine. Soft carbonation, smooth finish. More of an amber feel to me than barley wine.

This was poured into a chalice. The appearance was a dark hazy amber color with a slim quarter fingerís worth of white foamy head that dissipated within seconds. The smell starts off with a semi-sweet cooked caramel malt trying to blend with light vanilla and herbal/tea-like qualities running over some light cooked cocoa tones. The taste pretty much copies the aroma decently. Thereís no aftertaste but it does have a slight smooth semi-dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent sipping quality about it. Carbonation hits just a tad harder than other Barleywines Iíve had. Overall, mostly average barleywine with a mouthfeel that probably could be tamed a tad more.

Sample at Rock Art, very clear amber color, fast dying head. Aroma is stale English malts, caramel, mild toffee and house yeast. The flavor is much the same. Very mild example of a barely wine. Well, it did start over 10 years ago...

Taster at the source. Four beers into an 8 beer flight and the best thing on my flight board so far is the oyster crackers. Aroma is caramel, Robotussin. Starts watery and sugary sweet, then finishes with straight up bitter. I hope it gets better from here.
