COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named for those rugged people who work and play in the woods! This Gnarly Stout rises to the task, being a bit chewy and a hefty 5.8% abv, cranking plenty of Challenger and Perle hops. The perfect days end for the Stump Jumper in all of us. Brewed with pale, crystal, black, chocolate roasted malts, oats, flaked barley, Perle and Challenger hops. (SEASONAL)

This is an okay dry stout. Not as full-bodied or rich as a true stout should be-- especially a craft-brewed stout. Reminded me more of a porter.

Nice three-finger head. Light beige and modest dome. Dark brown colored liquor where no light can shine through. Leaves ring lace after each sip. Sweet chocolate and oatmeal aroma. Slight chalkiness. Very mild black patent malt in the background. "Darker" flavor than the smell lets on. More burnt toast and slight coffee-ish tastes. Relatively thin body for the style. Great aftertaste of hop and burnt barley--very dry.

Could be a good beer, but it is definitely overhopped. The nice chocolate and mocha flavors are quickly kicked aside by an assaultive bitter hoppiness. Remedy that and youíve got yourself a very nice beer.

Dry this one is ... There is some bitterness in the aftertaste that quickly disappears. Medium weight on the palate and lively carbonation.

Extremely sweet aroma with malt and coffee; medium brown head on a thick black body. Taste is nearly all coffee and the palate is surprisingly thin but good nonetheless. I was expecting motor oil. Low carbonation.

Bomber poured into pint glass - cola color with dense foamy head, nutty with hint of chocolate, nice malt flavor although a bit thin on texture, nevertheless an enjoyable and sessionable stout and quite servicable for my needs at a low price

pours a pitch black color with a pillowy cream colored head. very inviting aromas of dark roasted malts and chocolate. fair amount of carbonation but it works well with the beer. taste is chocolate roastiness with a semi bitter and dry finish. very refreshing beer.

(Bottle). Very small light brown head, fully diminishing. Dark brown body. Roasted, caramel and a bit smoked? in aroma. Moderated bitterness as initial flavor then more heavy bitterness (from roasted grains) toward the end of average duration. Medium body, lively carbonation. A bit simple but fair. Sampled at MartinTís place with other RateBeerians for the "Montrealís Voyager Par Les Papillesí first tasting session".

You can smell the smokiness right away, but the big story with this beer is taste. A substantial feeling beer, itís thick maltiness is undercut with a noticeable dose of hops. As it warms up it only gets tastier. A true winter beer and one Iíve underestimated in the past.
