dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Oct 3, 2009 Great hop-from-the-vine aroma. Excellent hop flavor as well. Like I opened a hop in my mouth. Very pleased. mj (4973), Colorado, USA Apr 12, 2005 Updated: Jun 19, 2006Served in a shaker, this beer had both a very delicious appearance and a unique one: of lemonade. WIth a bright, glowing lemon yellow color and a deeply murky yeast-cloud body, it screamed refreshment in a way that only true hefeweizen and fresh squeezed lemonade can. Intensely sweet bubblegum/sugar hop nose, with a gritty, wafting hop particle cloud reaching up into your nose... the hops are likley simply cascade or amarillo, but there are amazingly fresh and try to keep your nose in this beer for hours. This IPA is all sweetness up front, with grapefruit bitterness which unfortunately drop out quickly in the middle of the tongue, leaving me confused. Very sweet, biting bitter up front, full of wonderful pulp-like citrus juice flavor, but just dropping off the face of the earth near the end. I would still drink this regularly, it was enjoyed. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Oct 5, 2007 Updated: Dec 31, 2008Sampled at Fremont Oktoberfest. I found this one to be a fairly standard hoppy west coast ipa. Nice bitterness with a little bit of fruitiness as well. Originally rated 3.4
Second rating... way awesome. A tong of citrus in the nose, like grapefruit, lemon, orange juice. Hazy yellow with a great head and sticky lacing. The hops in this are chewy and gritty. Lots of citrus, floral, grapefruit. Dry biscuity malt. More hops in the finish. Really freaking good. glkaiser (1150), Seattle, Washington, USA May 11, 2007 Wow, a beer at Rock Bottom that I was pretty damn impressed with. I don’t frequent their places, and was surprised to find this. This is what it is....a freaking hop bomb. Big nug hop on the aroma and in the taste. Backed nicely with just enough sweet malt; doesn’t come close to being balanced. Might go back for a growler tomorrow. bitbucket (2026), Kirkland, Washington, USA Jun 1, 2006 Draught. Pours an amber orange with a lacy white head. Aroma of oranges, mangos, hop flowers and a bit of spice. Medium body with medium carbonation. The taste starts sweet, and is much like the aroma. This is like drinking whole hops that have been dipped in malt. The finish is fairly quick, but piney crisp. Not quite as hop-bitter as I was expecting, but everything else about this beer says hops have been lavished upon it. Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 30, 2007 Draught sample, Seattle. Big cat pee IPA. Resin and grapefruit oil, grassy and fresh. Fresh, I tell ya. Golden amber clear with thin lacing head. Medium heavy body with medium carbonation. Starts with great fresh hops, grassy with resin. Sweet grainy taste but mainly a great resinous finish and medium bitter after. Dry hopped version is equally fine (did side by side), though a bit smoother. Good muted bitter after. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Feb 6, 2006 Amber colour wiht a thin white head. Nice sweet cascadey aroma. Lots of pale malt, grapefruty and a bit of pineapple as well. Very light resin. Very well-balanced, moderate bitterness. Fruity apple and peachy flavours mingle with the tropical hop notes. Juicy and tasty. highibus (421), Mill Creek, Washington, USA Aug 15, 2009 A.fairly pale ipa with thin white head. Huge aroma of piney hops. One glorious aroma. Decent hop presence in the flavor but a little light on the malt for me. A bit thin too but overall rally nice.
