Rooney31 (42), USA Sep 20, 2006 Tap Chicago: If it wasn’t for the head, you would almost mistake this for a stout due to its dark brown appearance. There were many levels of flavors, first sweet malts, then pine hoppiness, followed by slightly bitter finish leaving you with a caramel and coffee aftertaste. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA Sep 6, 2006 Pours a reddish brown. Caramel malt aromas with a hint of nut. Flavor is bittersweet chocolate with some nut aftertaste. gearbike (413), West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA Sep 4, 2006 Tap in Chicago. Sort of a thin stout. Very Malty and sweet. Dry and very drinkable. jon112981 (327), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA Sep 2, 2006 Tap. A very malty beer. Served with almost no head and a nice coipper hue. Very sweet. Slightly nutty. NachlamSie (1631), Tennessee, USA Aug 16, 2006 Draught during my Great Lakes region brew tour. Dark chocolatey brown pour with a light tan head. Roasty aroma with faint pine hops. Near-porter feel overall. There is a good level of coffee in the mouth accompanied by chocolate. This is slightly nutty. Okay for a brown ale. KUEric (632), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA Aug 12, 2006 Bethesda Locale: I was pleasently suprised by this beer. A nice malt characteristic which had notes of nuts, brown sugar, earthy, chocolate/coffee. Quite good. Ungstrup (14761), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 12, 2006 At Bethesda location. A hazy brown beer with no head. The aroma is sweet and nutty, while the flavor is sweet nutty combined with hints of oranges, leading to a dry slightly bitter end. An OK flavor for a Brown Ale. hopscotch (5445), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Aug 2, 2006 Draft... Bethesda location... Deep amber ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Light milk chocolate and vanilla in the nose. Well balanced flavor. A touch citric and fairly bitter. Cocoa. Medium-bodied with a scathing mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Coarse, dry finish.
