pivo (2535), Germany Nov 16, 2005 Updated: Apr 14, 2006Light clear brown color, tight head. Sweet caramelly toffee malt, some earthy roastedness, low bitter. The profile just falls off. Thin and weak. No body. 1FastSTi (2551), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Oct 1, 2005 Chicago location. Pours to a ruddy brown body with a beige head. The aroma is oatmeal, biscuit, chocolate. The flavor is a heavily roasted chocolate. The Willamette and Chinook hops are definitely apparent. Kind of coffee-ish. The palate is so-so. Well made, just not my "mug of beer". Uriel (144), San Jose, California, USA Sep 5, 2005 Smoky chocolate coffee are prevalent in the aromas. This beer is a deep brown that sticks to the glass. Sweet malty flavors on the attack, followed rapidly by bitter coffee. THe bitterness really sticks to your tongue, with bare hints of any hops they might have added. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Jul 31, 2005 Draft at the Rock Bottom in Cincinnati. Small tan head that mostly diminished, excellent lacing, fine-small sized bubbles, transparent, and a red hue. Mlaty, hoppy aroma. Bitter, malty, chocolate, some coffee, and hops in the flavor. Smooth mouthfeel. Medium body. frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Jun 10, 2005 Dark brown in color (looked a little weak but that was a deception), with an off-white ring for a head. Toasty malted aroma with caramel and a hint of alcohol. Balanced flavor leaning towards the malts with a thorough bitter-sweetness. A little oily on the tongue with a spicy, nutty finish. My favorite at Rock Bottom, similar to Goose Island Hex Nut with a strong, biting finish like a scotch ale.

JoshuaB (422), Detroit, Michigan, USA Jun 3, 2005 Nothing special here, just an average brown. Color is very nice, a translucent brown with some decent head. Pretty watery with nothing much to it. The aftertaste is the best part. May be a bit too carbonated. Ok beer to try if you are in the area. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jun 2, 2005 At RB Chicago: Dark dirty brown with a nice tan head. Grainy goodness and a bit choco-roasty. Tmoney99 (4659), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Apr 22, 2005 Draft at brew pub. Dark brown hue with average rocky off-white head. Moderate malt and small hop aroma. Flavor was moderate sweet with an average bitter finish. Medium creamy body. Good brew with homestyle food.
