Commercial Description:
This is a rich, deep brown ale with a roasty character. It is smooth and malty, full-bodied and somewhat sweet. Editor's Note: This beer is one of Rock Bottom's standards and is available at many of their breweries.

"Poured a nice darker brown color medium white head. Aroma was roasted malts sweet coffee. Flavor was nutty, caramel malts toffee and coffee. Medium body to it. Okay beer"

On tap at Rock Bottom Chicago. Murky brown, chocolatey coloring with a thin, off-white head. Tons of chocolate, along with a touch of toasted biscuit are up front in the nose. Wow, after my first taste I am impressed. This is much more flavorful, balanced, thick, and chocolatey than the Irish stout I had a few minutes before. There’s also a tiny touch of hops that give this beer a subtle extra dimension. Overall, my favorite brew out of the standard rotations.

Tap Chicago: If it wasn’t for the head, you would almost mistake this for a stout due to its dark brown appearance. There were many levels of flavors, first sweet malts, then pine hoppiness, followed by slightly bitter finish leaving you with a caramel and coffee aftertaste.

Pours dark brown to black with a light tan head. Smell is really nice and roasty with light coffee and chocolately notes. Taste is roasty and coffee like maltiness but thin, like most of the regular offerings. Light bitter roasty cocoa powder finish. Still a good brown, all around.

On draft at Chicago. Murky red-brown with a small, diminishing head. Light caramel and roasted malt aroma. Toasty flavor, with some chocolate malt and a hint of milk chocolate. Creamy and sticky, which was a surprise. Pretty tasty.

Tasted at the Cincinnati location. Dark brown color with a thin light beige head and thin lacing. Light aroma of nuts and malt. Medium-bodied and smooth with a decent roasty/nutty flavor. Very smooth and malty finish. Not bad.
