Rock Bottom Catcher In The Rye

10oz glass on tap at the KoP location. Poured a medium orange color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of rye, grains, and citrus. Tastes of rye, grains, citrus, and a trace of caramel. Creamy body. Lacing left on the glass.

Draft Rock Bottom Cincinnati. Hazy copper pour with an average frothy white head that diminished slowly and had fair lacing. Moderate sweet grassy rye aroma. Medium body. Moderate sweet with the same graasy rye flavor with a light bitter (Amarillo) hop finish. Drinkable brew.

Draught at the downtown Denver brewpub. Head is mostly lasting. Body is light to medium amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (apricot, resin), lightly yeasty (dough). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Dull but perfectly drinkable bitter/APA.

This draft brew fom the College Park location in Indianapolis, IN poured a small head of mostly diminishing foamy finely sized bubbles that left behind a yellow-orange colored transparent soft carbonated body. The mouth feel was tingly from start to finish. The aroma was of mild rye and hops in the aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of rys and hops.

Tap in Milwaukee. Pours a bright gold/yellow color with a frothy head. Very thin aroma of a grain field. The taste is a pretty mild mix of fresh grains. Thankfully the rotten silo taste isn’t there, but there really wasn’t any rye to speak of. It’s not bad, but nothing to shout "Yippie!" over either.

Draft at College Park location in Indianapolis, IN.Small off-white head that mostly diminished, good lacing, transparent, no carbonation observed, and a gold hue. Nose was hoppy, grain and citrus. Ditto for the flavor. Smooth, thin mouthfeel and light in body. Quaffable and very easy to drink brew.

On tap at the KOP location. Pours a translucent golden amber with a medium creamy off white head. Aroma of citrus, rye, cereal grains, some malt sweetness and floral notes. Flavor was a mix of the same a little thin but still a solid rye beer.

Tasted at the Minneapolis location. Described as "smooth" and "malty" by the bartender, when in fact this beer is neither. Rather it is a well hopped, bitter beer. Dark gold color and pushed with nitro. The head is thick but short and doesn’t last very long. Floral hop aroma. Flavor is ok. Loads of bitter hops. Some bread, and just a little sweet malt. It becomes harsh and hard to drink. Where is the rye?
