BDR (2139), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Oct 31, 2007 ABR 2007. Copper body with rye and citrus hop on the nose. More rye in the grainy malt body with a little citrus hop finish. Not bad at all. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA Feb 11, 2007 Rye additions to a golden ale.
Pours a hazy gold color, about a half inch of loose white foam. No lacing. The beer clears a lot after a short time in the glass. Lightly hoppy aroma.
I expected a brewpub version of Redhook’s Sunrye, but this beer is fuller and hoppier than that. Still pretty light, still pretty quaffable, but better by far than that Sunrye stuff.
Light to medium body, but the spicy hops are prevelant. Some good rye in the initial sip, and definately in the aftertaste. More spicy hops in the aftertaste. Dry finish. Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA Jun 13, 2005 Pours witha golden orange body topped by a thick head wtih a good amount of lacing. The aroma is slightly bitter and grassy from the hops with a slight rye note. Very similar flavor with a touch of sweetness and a nice bready note. Medium bodied and smooth. hopdog (5535), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 27, 2007 10oz glass on tap at the KoP location. Poured a medium orange color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of rye, grains, and citrus. Tastes of rye, grains, citrus, and a trace of caramel. Creamy body. Lacing left on the glass. TomDecapolis (3130), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 26, 2007 On tap at the KOP location. Pours a translucent golden amber with a medium creamy off white head. Aroma of citrus, rye, cereal grains, some malt sweetness and floral notes. Flavor was a mix of the same a little thin but still a solid rye beer. jsquire (2087), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Apr 30, 2008 On tap at the College Park pub. Clear red-amber color with a lasting khaki head. Cereal grain nose. Earthy hops, a raw grain astringency, and something that reminds me of rosemary. Flavorful, and good with bar fries. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Jul 28, 2005 Perfectly clear, honey-golden appearance, with a solid, 1/2" head of soft white foam...presentable...
Aroma is mild, sly, speaks up sparely with grassy notes, herbs, hay, and then the rye sticks out of there, unmistakably...interesting...
Taste? soft, sensuous entry on the palate, and very smooth, nothing from hops, malt is mellow, nothing really stands out. A bit dull, actually, but I believe it was meant to be more of a quaffer, with an interesting grain profile. There’s a just a little bit of something that sticks in the throat, and dances gingerly in the mouth...pleasure meets supreme drinkability...not bad, not bad at all...the kind of laid-back brew for when you have no interest in any kind of "shock and awe" in your beer...(but, personally, I won’t get too far into this growler before I give up and go running for an imperial stout!)
hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA May 1, 2008 Draft at College Park location in Indianapolis, IN.Small off-white head that mostly diminished, good lacing, transparent, no carbonation observed, and a gold hue. Nose was hoppy, grain and citrus. Ditto for the flavor. Smooth, thin mouthfeel and light in body. Quaffable and very easy to drink brew.
