COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first, of three, "Notorious Chicago" special release beers. This full-bodied, amber ale is gonna "take you out" with big, rich caramel malt flavors and hops to match.

Draft at RBC. Always stoked for a new Altbier. Pours A cloudy reddish amber, sticky off white head. Kinda ugly. Nose is sweet bread crusts, big Munich, some sweetness and a soft hop note. Some noted booze as well. Caramel? On tasting, kinda on the sweet side, firm bitterness comes in and balances it out. The booze is big and noticable, finishing with a warming sensation as well. Body is rich and the sweetness is a bit much but the bitterness is very welcomed overall.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a lightly hazed, copper-amber colored body with a finger-width, frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a solid lacing throughout. Aroma is a moderate amount of rich caramels, a touch of bready toast, some ale yeast fruits, and a hint of earthy hops. Flavor is better with richer caramels and slightly bready toffees up front before a nice toast and moderate amount of balancing earthy hops come in. Some light fruitiness before the hops help this dry cleanly with a light bitterness and a pleasant, lightly sweetened rich caramel and toast. A touch of alcohol warmth before leaving a pretty lengthy aftertaste with the dry hops and light alcohol sticking out. Medium-full, smooth, clean body with a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a nice beer. Nothing special, but clean, smooth, and well balanced. Enjoyable.
