BrideOfFrankenkitty (44), Illinois, USA Feb 3, 2006 Like straight whiskey, this beer was more liquor flavored than the shot of bourbon I did earlier. The appearance was espresso, and the aroma was a mix of corn syrup and coffee with a vague afterbite of swimming pool locker room.
JaBier (240), Capital City, Ohio, USA Dec 15, 2008 Sampled at FoBAB 2008. Pours black with some tan head. Aroma of chocolate, dark fruit and bourbon. Flavor cocoa, creamy vanilla, marshmallow and bourbon. Very good stuff. MegaMan2OO6 (20), Elmhurst, Illinois, USA Oct 25, 2008 Updated: Nov 20, 2008(10.24.08) On draught at Rock Bottom Chicago. Black pour with thin tan head which doesn’t stick around for long. Sweet/roasted malt aroma, with brown sugar, vanilla, and bourbon coming out to play. Medium to full body. Well balanced sweetness and bitterness with plenty of alcohol in the finish. Delicious barrel-aged stout - the best thing Rock Bottom has to offer, but not the best brew in the category. bu11zeye (4066), Frisco, Texas, USA Sep 14, 2008 (Draught) Pours an opaque black body with a small tan head. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, roasted malt, brown sugar, and caramel. Flavor of bourbon, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, and caramel malt with bitter roastiness in the finish. inkubus27 (119), USA Aug 23, 2008 Deep black great thick body. Nicely balanced bourbon/stout aroma, though the bourbon definitely takes over. The flavor is perfect on this. It’s very malty and sweet enough to balance the bourbon flavor, also does a nice job of hiding the 12% alc. This actually went down way too easily, and i could have drank these all night long. Overall one of the best Bourbon Stouts I have tried. kseecs16 (617), Westmont, Illinois, USA Aug 18, 2008 Draught at the pub, 08/17/08. In a snifter, appears opaque big creamy cocoa head. Strong sweet bourbony chocolate aroma. Rich creamy palate some roast bitter and biting alcohol in the finish. A good strong but not over bearing imperial stout. Flavor is some dry barrel sweet chocolatey bitterness.
