3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at RBC. A spiced Weizenbock, for some reason... Pours a deep cloudy orange with an offwhite head. The nose is strongly spiced, cloves & mace, pepper and cinnamon. Some faint banana as well. The grain is well overshadowed here. On tasting, sweet and bitter spice notes, lots more of the mace comes through, again overpowering. It dries out, ultimately but this is a super spiced beer. Perhaps a lighter hand will let the deep malt profile come through better. Interesting but not my bag.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A hazed golden wheat with a thin white head. In aroma, light ginger and cardamom, over light fruity esters, light cloves, nice. In mouth, a smooth sweet fruity ester with ginger and cloves, candy sugar, not bad. On tap at brewpub, Nov 11 2011.
