3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Cincy brewpub. Poured clear golden color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate citrus hoppy aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation.Moderate bittersweet flavor with a medium smooth bitter finish of moderate duration.
A solid beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
RB decided that this years winter brew would be an IPA.
Pours a dark gold in color with plenty of carbonation and a half inch of head. Smell is piney hops. Some "green-ness" to them. Taste is piney, somewhat bittering. Bubbly and bitter on the mouthfeel. This is one of the more enjoyable beers that I have had at the Cincy Rock Bottom.
Very good to drink and highly sessionable. Well done. Would like to see this as a regular offering.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
11/04/2008: Yep, Blitzen is an IPA and a very good, high alcohol one at that! A wonderfully fresh and hoppy aroma reminds me of freshly peeled tangerines. The flavor is bright and fresh and well and flowing with juicy hop flavors that taste like clementine peel accented with just a touch of toffee/caramel maltiness to keep in grounded. Some alcohol is buried in the flavor and one would need to look hard to find it. However, as easily as this beer can be gulped down, that alcohol can and will definitely sneak up and you! All of that having been said, the flavor is great, but a bit more bitterness would have been welcomed. Oh, I nearly forgot to descrive the appearance. This beer has a bright, copper color, is hazy, and is topped with an attractive, frothed-up and long lasting beige head. There is solid lacing from top to bottom. This medium-bodied beer also has a soft palate. This beer is very well done and WAYYY too drinkable! Final verdict: Damn good!
Draught (a couple 20 fl. oz. mugs) at Rock Bottom in Cincinnati, Ohio. Rating #1 for this beer.
