Cask pour at the brewpub. Pours a deep, though not opaque, coffee brown color with virtually no head or visible carbonation. Big espresso nose, just a fresh coffee and roast throughout, with some backing vanilla and cocoa sweetness. The flavor is more muted in terms of the coffee, but there’s just as much if not more vanilla bean, with earth, tobacco, and cocoa. Light-medium bodied, with minimal carbonation and a smooth, sweet, lightly roasted mouthfeel. Drinks so easy. Nice beer. Smells great.

Draft sample. Poured a clear brown color with an average to large frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted nut and chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Solid toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good complex brew.

On cask at the brewpub in Cincinnati, OH. Pours a black body with an inch thick, creamy and frothy, dark brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is medium sweet dark chocolates with a touch of milky sweetness, a decent iced espresso note, a light roast, and a touch of vanilla. Flavor is similar. Some iced coffee and espresso up front with a decent dark and milky chocolate sweetness. Some roasts, vanilla, and a light earth as this finishes clean, smooth, and dry with a light bitterness and balanced sweetness. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a thinner body and a medium-light carbonation. Overall, nothing special, but a decent espresso stout. On the thinner side, but a nice coffee, chocolate, light vanilla, and balancing roast. Not bad.
