3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Chudwick (1086) - Taylor Mill, Kentucky, USA - MAY 3, 2013
Draft - pours amber with offwhite head and great lacing. Nose is pine. Flavor adds a caramel backbone with cheesy undertones. Wife says it smells like vomit. I disagree, a second whiff does reveal artificial pine smells like paint thinner. Hoppiness does wear off eventually. Decent to the style but nothing more.

Good, smooth lighter carbonation. More dry texture. Nice moderate bitter taste, light sweet in the finish. Lightly toasty malt. Spicy hop. Solid, hoppy amber

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 shigadeyo (2400) - Harrison, Ohio, USA - MAR 15, 2012
3/14/2012: Rock Bottom Fire Chief Ale... Aroma: Grapefruit/pine hops seem to ooze out of the aroma - quite unexpected based on my experience with this beer in previous years... Appearance: Pale amber color; cloudy. Flavor: HIgh level of citrusy hops, but a bit soapy; moderate to high level of bittereness that sticks in the throat; lightly caramelized malitness hides underneath the hops. Palate: Medium body; smooth. Overall: Lots and lots of hops in the 2012 version to satisfy hop-lovers! This is the best version so far...
Draught (6.5% ABV; 60 IBU) at Rock Bottom in Cincinnati, Ohio. Rating #3 for this beer.

Draft. Poured hazy deep copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted and produced excellent lacing. Complex earthy hop and malt aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy smooth bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is a very good beer.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 phaleslu (4459) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 11, 2010
Draft pint at the brewpub on the tapping event night, March 11, 2010. Pours a cloudy reddish-amber color with a one-inch thick off-white head; foamy and resilient. Aroma of centennial hops, pale malts, caramel, toast, and citrus. Malty, hoppy flavor, with notes of caramel, grass, citrus, and cherry. Light-medium bodied, with above-average carbonation and a malty mouthfeel. Bitter finish. Crisp and refreshing. Pretty nice beer, and 25 cents a pint goes to local fire departments and fire-related charities. My dad’s a firefighter, so I wasn’t going to miss this one. Cool idea and event.
