BeerBelcher (750), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Oct 16, 2007 This beer was extremely bourbon-y, a bit more than I would like. I found it rather astringent and a bit difficult to drink (I was grateful I only had 10 oz of it, rather than 16).
It poured an extremely viscous black, with a fine, sticky, tan head. Aroma was strongly bourbon-y. Taste was very bourbon-y, which made it hard to notice a lot of very nice chocolate-y roastiness. Mouthfeel was extremely dry. Not bad, but not very drinkable nor something that could be an everyday beer for me.
I had this while in town for the GABF during one of several meals at Rock Bottom-Denver.
norsedoc (155), USA Apr 7, 2008 On the board as ’06 imperial stout. I believe it is the same one I had during the GABF. 10 oz pour, pitch black with nice creamy brown head. Chocolate and liquorice aromas. Sweet , cocoa, blueberry, and roasted malt flavor. Full body. Somewhat dry finish that dies off quicker than it should. Overall a great beer, but not quite as good as the Yeti down the street. Kevin (1765), Colorado, USA Oct 31, 2007 tap during the gabf fun. nothing like a good beer with one of the dallas crew. hell, we even kept our pants on while we drank. fucking beauty of a beer even if they did short pour my 10 oz glass. pitch black with a thick nitro mocha coffee colored head. lots of coffee and a hint of booze ibn the nose. chocolate bourbon, with a bit of char. raisin and caramel mix with a chocolate and this sucker finishes dry great vanilla notes in this. the barrel flavor works great here. incredibly smooth one that could easily get me in trouble.
5 8 9 5 18 goldtwins (3740), Nesconset, New York, USA Oct 29, 2007 Tap @ RB Denver. Poured extremely dark brown with a large creamy tan head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, and chocolate. The aroma was thick and the bourbon big but not over the top. 1FastSTi (2402), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Oct 23, 2007 At Denver location. I had an entire pint. Was listed at 9.9% and 45 IBUs. The beer pours to a pitch black body with a really dense ultra creamy dark brown nitro head. Awesome lacing. Extremely rich. The palate is the 2nd thing I noticed. Creamy, thick like a milkshake, rich coating mouthfeel. Full bodied. The flavor is an intense chocolate, vanilla, oaken bourbon. The bourbon is very noticeable amongst the chocolate but doesn’t detract and isn’t overpowering. The aroma is rich chocolate, cocoa powder, lots of sweet vanilla marshmallows. Amazing with a light char. kp (6200), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Oct 21, 2007 Name: Imperial Stout Bourbon Barrel
