jbrus (4632), Delft, Netherlands May 7, 2009 Tap@Brewpub. Chocolate aroma with a hint of coffee. Dark brown colour, off-white head, fair lace. Sweetish, hints of chocolate and coffee, light bitter. Rather plain Stout. alexanderj (1975), San Diego, California, USA Apr 5, 2009 On tap at Rock Bottom Seattle. Color was dark brown to black in color. Aroma of roasted malt, vanilla with a hint of oats. Flavor was of roasted malt, oats with hints of caramel, vanilla and chocolate. A solid beer. riversideAK (2364), Shoreline, Washington, USA Dec 31, 2008 Dark brown almost black. Roasted dark malts, a touch of sweet lactic aspects in the flavors and aroma. A little bit of dry roast in the finish. carruthm (901), Seattle, Washington, USA May 2, 2008 cream ale with unfermented whey, black with a white soapy head. dark cocoa malts on the nose and a bitterish coffee finish on the taste. not bad, not great, some good qualities, but overall unspectacular. Bobsy (195), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 19, 2007 Draught sample at the downtown Seattle location. Everything you expect in a stout. Good coffee kick. Good, but not great, beer. Nate (2466), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 30, 2007 Draught sample, Seattle. Nice roasted grain aroma with some coffee and chocolate. Sweet lactic malted milk but also a little broth. Dark brown clear with little head. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Starts sweet with chocolate, almost too sweet. Molasses and some carbonic gassy tang. Light roasted grain. Finish is a mild sweet with hint of bitterness. Meh. Oakes (7618), Bamberg, Germany Jul 20, 2007 Dark brown body. Thick, slightly rocky light brown head. Aroma leads with a fair bit of roast and dark chocolate, with light woody hops underneath. I bought it because it’s made with whey...this shows mainly in a slightly creamy body. That creaminess balances off a fair roastiness. A solid outing. bitbucket (1910), Kirkland, Washington, USA Oct 24, 2006 Draft at the Seattle location. Pours a translucent blackish brown with a thin tan head. The aroma is slight, but has some coffee and chocolate notes. Lots of coffee and some roasty malt in the taste. Dry pine, burnt toast and espresso finish. Probably not the ideal accompaniment to nachos, but holds it’s own against the jalapenos.
