bu11zeye (3780), Frisco, Texas, USA Feb 26, 2008 (Draft, Rock Bottom, Boston, 8.8% abv version) Pours a lightly hazy copper body with small off-white head. Aroma of nuts, caramel, and light grass. Flavor of sweet maple syrup, light fruit, nuts, and some alcohol. GarrettB (410), Seattle, Washington, USA Jan 2, 2006 Updated: Sep 16, 2007The Rock Bottom set of reviews is a reflection of my hasty attempt to drink a small quantity of many beers and produce accurate and helpful reviews. Clearly I’ve failed, but I hope my incoherent and cryptic critiques can help at least a few folks who wander in and want to know what to order.
Before the look, nose and taste can even be considered, I have to laud the folks at Rock Bottom for a great name. Even if the Goat Toppler tastes like a Turkish bath house, I could spend hours daydreaming of clumsy, inebriated goats, which is better entertainment than any show on television. The raging booziness of the Goat Toppler glows a semi-cloudy blend of oranges and reds, and reeks of hard liquor like a flavored Bacardi rum. Thankfully the taste is nothing like the smell, showing off a prominent banana flavor with a lace of green apples. Sadly, the high alcohol content cloys an otherwise skillfully concocted brew. At least the name is immutably cool. Jokes (1449), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 7, 2003 Golden color beneath a thin white head. A nice malty nose, well balanced with a crisp bitter finish. A pretty good bock. blank (999), Washington, Washington DC, USA Jan 10, 2003 Intresting. They called it a dunkel-bock. Much more more bock the dunkel if you ask me.
