dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Oct 3, 2009 Great hop-from-the-vine aroma. Excellent hop flavor as well. Like I opened a hop in my mouth. Very pleased. highibus (421), Mill Creek, Washington, USA Aug 15, 2009 A.fairly pale ipa with thin white head. Huge aroma of piney hops. One glorious aroma. Decent hop presence in the flavor but a little light on the malt for me. A bit thin too but overall rally nice. anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Aug 18, 2008 Draught @ WABF 2008. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head. Malty hoppy grapefruit aroma. Malty hoppy bitter grapefruit flavor. Hasa long hoppy bitter grapefruit finish. Crit (2399), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada Jun 26, 2008 Cloudy deep gold , lasting beige head. Citrusy cat piss nose. Grapefruit hop profile, lightly cat pissy in finish
Nothing special BillKismet (1898), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 8, 2008 Very light bronze, akin to a golden ale in appearance with a spittle like 1" creamed white head. Crisp, lightly piny hop aroma (chinook/cascade?). Light, mildly hoppy flavor with refreshing mouth-washing bitterness. Bitter-sour tingle in back of throat. Crisp, light, bitter-tannic finish. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Oct 5, 2007 Updated: Dec 31, 2008Sampled at Fremont Oktoberfest. I found this one to be a fairly standard hoppy west coast ipa. Nice bitterness with a little bit of fruitiness as well. Originally rated 3.4
Second rating... way awesome. A tong of citrus in the nose, like grapefruit, lemon, orange juice. Hazy yellow with a great head and sticky lacing. The hops in this are chewy and gritty. Lots of citrus, floral, grapefruit. Dry biscuity malt. More hops in the finish. Really freaking good. jhumphries69 (717), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Aug 7, 2007 Pours a deep orange with an off-white head. It didn’t look much different than the "Humpback Pale Ale" in the sampler line-up, but it was noticeably hoppier in aroma. The aroma is loaded with citrus and grapefruit and a touch of pine. The hops are starting to overpower the malts (at least compared to the Humpback). The flavor is more balanced than the aroma: it is still balanced with a nice dose of citrus hops and sweet, honey-like malts. The finish is very hoppy and quite bitter, but still nicely balanced overall thanks to a decent malt backbone. Overall, this was the strongest offering in the sampler - and by strongest I mean best. Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 30, 2007 Draught sample, Seattle. Big cat pee IPA. Resin and grapefruit oil, grassy and fresh. Fresh, I tell ya. Golden amber clear with thin lacing head. Medium heavy body with medium carbonation. Starts with great fresh hops, grassy with resin. Sweet grainy taste but mainly a great resinous finish and medium bitter after. Dry hopped version is equally fine (did side by side), though a bit smoother. Good muted bitter after.
