COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A classic, flavorful brown ale with outstanding character coming from both caramel and chocolate malts. Brickway Brown is full-bodied, yet smooth and always refreshing.

Poured a small head with small-medium bubbles. It had a good coffee taste to it which I really enjoyed as it wasn't over strong. In my opinion it had a bit of a cherry aroma to it.

draft at the downtown brewpub - Pours dark brown with an off-white head that laces well. It has a minimal nutty malt aroma. The flavor is sweet and full of caramel. It’s light to medium bodied and an easy quaffed session brew.

Out of the sampler at the College Park pub. Clear mahagony color with a thin beige head. Nose of roasted coffee and some chocolate. Flavors of dusty chocolate, toasted grains, toffee, burnt toast and some nuttiness.

Draft at Rock Bottom Indy. From notes. Nutty caramel dominates taste and aroma. Good, but not great.

Translucent amber brown with a wispy grey head. Roasted chocolate malts in the aroma are drawn out, along with charcoal and caramel. Absolutely no smell that hints toward bitterness. Flavor is deflated. Some toasty hazelnuts and light, sugar free cocoa powder. Some astringency that spreads from the tongue’s center. Semi-sweet chocolate chip finish.

From a growler shared by Mamabeer. Poured a rich, dark chestnut with a foamy beige head that left nice lacing behind. Roasted nuts, chocolate malts, slight coffee notes. Medium body with a smooth feel. Sweet flavor at the start and then an ever so slight bitterness in the end.

Pours brown with tan head. Aroma is of roasted malt. This is quite a malty brown ale with very little sweetness. Quite refreshing. Light body

I noticed their beer menu said this was brewed in "the brown porter" style. Another confused brew from Rock Bottom? Perhaps they figured porters wouldn’t sell, but browns appeal to the BMC crowd when they come in? Anyway, this was clearly more a porter than a brown ale, in terms of its flavors. They weren’t very strong, and as a porter it was somewhat weak in flavor, but the common porter flavors were definitely present. Not bad.
