A classic, flavorful brown ale with outstanding character coming from both caramel and chocolate malts. Brickway Brown is full-bodied, yet smooth and always refreshing.

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2003 This brew poured a very small head of small to medium sized light brown bubbles and a dark opaque black brown body. It has a strong malt aroma and a mild coffee flavor. There is a slight bitterness to its start but finishes very smoothly. The coffee flavor lingers well after the taste. It does leave only a fair lacing after a drink from the mug. I really liked this one over all and it was the best brew I had there that evening. Very nice job.

Nice, light roast, light cocoa, medium aroma. Dark, slightly cloudy brown, thin head. Exceptionally well-balanced. Well-bittered, but not overbearing. Woody, herbal notes. Lingering bitter finish. Kudos to the brewmaster.

From a sampler at the Indy location: This beer is a dark brown color with a medium beige head. Solid lacing throughout. The aroma is both nutty and chocolatey. Medium body with malt, chocolate and a little coffee to the taste. The finish is decent and has a nice coffee flavor with a touch of hops. This is pretty good.

Poured a small head with small-medium bubbles. It had a good coffee taste to it which I really enjoyed as it wasn't over strong. In my opinion it had a bit of a cherry aroma to it.

Out of the sampler at the College Park pub. Clear mahagony color with a thin beige head. Nose of roasted coffee and some chocolate. Flavors of dusty chocolate, toasted grains, toffee, burnt toast and some nuttiness.

Draught at RB Indy/Downtown. Dark ruby, black with highlights, very cool looking! Lacy tan head. Nose of roast and berry. Watery body. Taste of roast and mocha, light berry, sticky candy bar malt and faint toffee/chocolate. More impressive than any of their light beers - has some complexity and depth!

10 oz. glass at the brewpub. A fairly dark brown beer with red. A one finger tan head. Aroma is roasted nuts and cocoa. The flavor also had those roasted nuts along with some molasses. Only the faintest hops were noticed. Very easy to drink it is both bitter and sweet. Pleasant.

draft at the downtown brewpub - Pours dark brown with an off-white head that laces well. It has a minimal nutty malt aroma. The flavor is sweet and full of caramel. It’s light to medium bodied and an easy quaffed session brew.
