Gusler (2656), Tucson, Arizona, USA Feb 23, 2004 Draught
The beer as it forsakes the keg a tea color, hazy and the head portly in size, light tan in color and the texture semi-creamy, as it erodes the lace forms a nice concealing sheet upon the glass. Nose is sweet malt with hits of caramel, fresh and clean to the senses, start is sweet, and has a nice malt profile with the top moderate in its feel to the palate. Finish is entertainingly acidic, the hops gratifyingly spicy, nice dry and lingering aftertaste, a fine representative to the style. Jokes (1449), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 2, 2003 Bottled (RAF). Pours a pretty standard reddish brown color with little head. The aroma was crazy good and dominated by crab apples, raisin, plum, toffee and candy sugar. The flavor was just a little flat. This could have been really good if the flavors matched the nose. Unfortunately, it was unable to do so.
