FEST Cornfield (4254), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Mar 23, 2008 Chestnut bodied with a tan head, this had a rich malty aroma along with some toast, and a touch of smoke. The flavor saw the addition of a nutty bitterness and some juicy darker fruits. It was lightly dry in the finish and had slight alcohol presence. Pretty nice.

Ughsmash (2835), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Mar 3, 2008 On tap at RB - Milwaukee. Poured clear, deeper reddish-brown with a short-lived beige head. The aroma picked up lots of sweet drawn caramel with subtle smoke highlights.. sweet, simple, and enjoyable. The flavor had sweeter caramel notes at the core, paired with dark fruits and a touch of chocolate.. light, ashy smoke accented the sides.. decent balance. Medium-bodied and sweet on the palate with sharper floral bitterness and prickly alcohol notes on the sides and back. This was OK. JPDIPSO (4189), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Feb 27, 2008 Original Rate Jan. 27, ’06 "Milwaukee". Brown color with a thick dense 1/2 inch lid of taupe bubbles. Earthy toasted malt aroma with some dark fruits underneath. Light raisin sweet start. Full and malty middle. Light wheat toast and nutty flavors. A dry cumin spicy finish. A long and malt filled linger. Full and flavorful. I would like a little more peat influence and depth, but still quite enjoyable. Reportedly replacing the brown, and by my tastes a great change.
