Imperial pint at the brewpub. This was my least favorite beer at the time. The pour is a dark brown with light edges and a small head. Aroma is some empty roast and a weird metallic aspect that is interfering with the beer. Flavor losses that metallic and is just some simple roast with some sweetness at t the end. Not complex, real simple, and something off. I’ll give it another chance next time because this may be just one bad batch.

Pours a deep black, with an inch or more of brown nitro-foamy head. Smooth and creamy layer of foam leaves pretty decent lacing throughout the glass(es). Mild roasted malt aroma, like a coffee stout. Hmm, very interesting. Mildly sweet flavor, but also some bitter chocolate underneath that. Complex. I thought I tasted a fruity aftertaste with a hint of black cherry, and so I asked the brewer about it. He said I was most likely crazy or imagining things, but added that maybe the yeast gave it some fruity character that he wasn’t aware of. Very smooth taste, made with de-bittered black malt and pilsner malt. Very flavorful, excellent finish. Pretty full body, a filling beer for sure

Jet black, with small windows of light getting through the glass’ bottom, under a very nice, creamy tan head. Mellow, roasty nose, hints of cocoa. chocolate is all over the taste, though, dripping on the palate, flavor is smooth, creamy, delicious. Medium bodied, genteel finish, ...so flavorful, you’d swear it was a porter. Very good one, of the more satisfying beers I’ve had here.
