Snifter poured on tap at the brewpub (orland park, Il). Pours a nice nearly pitch black pour with moderate brownish head that laces. Aromas are not stingy on the bourbon: subtle roasted notes mix in with vanilla, oak, light hairspray booziness, and chocolate with very light coffee. Initial is lighter bodied than expected, roasted malts and decent coffee and chocolate mix with a light bourbon booziness. Vanilla and oak work their way in, but light. lacking body wise, finishes with some sweetness and bourbon on the palate. Ok, but not great.

Served in a snifter at the brewpub, this had an intensely dark brown body, nigh unto black, capped with a tight light brown (not tan) head. The aroma is strong with Bourbon, dark chocolatey malt, a light roastiness, some vanilla, and a soft woodiness. Smooth and light mouthfeel. The flavor reflects the elements of the nose except that the booziness gets kicked up a notch. Very pleasant sipper, and not so strong that one wouldn’t have a few of them.
