Rock Bottom Orland Park Barrel-Aged Oatmeal Stout

They had this at the Festival of Barrel Aged Beer under the name of Blackout Stout and I passed on it, assuming (luckily, rightfully so) that I could get a full snifter at the brewpub. Good looking pour, nearly black with a sustained firm tan head. The Bourbon dominates the aroma, but there’s still some room for dark roasted malt, vanilla, and a hint of chocolate. Very light and fluffy in the mouth. The Bourbon also controls the flavor, yet oddly doesn’t give it a "big beer" feel. Vanilla, oak, roasty malts, and a splash of chocolate also make it into the mix. Pretty good.
