3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampler. Cloudy yellow amber, with a thin head. Pleasant raspberry smell asserts itself ahead of any other beer-related notes. But in tasting, the fruit actually plays itself well against the wit. Still lets in some of the usual wheat and spice. Some will say the razz is still overdone, but I think itís a better balance than most fruit beers.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Mug club draft poured on tap at the brewpub (Orland Park, IL). Pours a hazy dull gold, decent white head that dies to aminimal film, clings to the corners a bit and laces minimally. Aromas are more Wit than Raspberry, showing flaked wheat, coriander, a touch of orange rind, and faint dark berry. It would be hard to peg it as such without really trying. Initial is pretty good flavorwise, heavy on the coriander, flaked wheat malty sweetness with that touch of tartness on the backend. Faint raspberry is the key to this beer, where the true wit base plays beneath. Mellow berry, citrus, and coriander linger on the palate. This was a bit dissappointing from a regularís standpoint, as as the orange and coriander steal the show from the light raspberry characteristics, and this beer is a shell of a Wit representation as compared to the Sunnyís D. Ok, but just not a beer I liked a whole lot about.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the brewpub: Very refreshing brew, looking like a Wit with a bit of pink from the 40 lbs. of berries that died for my drink. The aroma and the flavors of the raspberries was subtle enough to deliver freshness without overpowering. Nicely done.
