RATINGS: 4 MEAN: 3.12/5.0 WEIGHTED AVG: 2.9 SEASONAL: Special ABV: -
COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION The Home Opener brewed at Rock Bottom Brewery by Steve Panos (Rock Bottom), David Cerminara (Penn), Shawn Setzenfand (Hofbrau), and Steve Crist (Penn) is a nod to the pale top-fermented ales of Cologne, Germany with an American twist. The brainchild of Cerminara, a self-professed “Kölsch Geek”, the Home Opener was brewed using traditional techniques but substituting noble hops with flavorful and aromatic US hop varieties such as Simcoe, Amarillo, and Centennial. The result is a soft, delicate, almost fruity sweetness balanced by a moderate hoppy bitterness that embodies one of the world’s most refreshing and quenching beer styles. Look forward to a little slice of Germany’s famous biergartens right here in the Steel City, courtesy of the Home Opener Ale.
