3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at the brewery, sample. Mildly hazy orange color, white head leaving lace. Almost totally flat, drier texture. Mild bitter fruity taste, coriander. Sweet and bitter spiced taste. Maybe this is what a cask ale is supposed to taste like, I’m not sure, but this is a bit too flat for me.

Draft, probably at GABF. Pours a standard amber with an offwhite head. The nose is caramel, neutral citrus and resin hops, light malt. On tasting, moderate sweetness and caramel malt notes. Light fruity hopping. Pretty inoffensive and bland. Meh.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nonic pint draft at the Gordon Biersch in Leawood, Kansas. Pour is a mostly clear copper auburn, with a one inch tan head head. Head falls with nice lacing. The aroma is cereal sweet malt, a mildly dank hoppiness and some general grassiness. Nose is fresh and clean. The taste is pretty straightforward sweet malt grain, a touch of vanilla sweetness as well, and then thins out nicely with bright catty hoppiness. Palate is medium to thin bodied to start, thins out a bit towards the finish. Carbonation is active, coupled with the dry mineral finish this was quite easy to drink. This would be a good session option, though ABV is higher than I would have expected from the body.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at the Orland Park, IL, brewpub: Brilliant corporate description - "our Red Ale is copper in color..." Seems like they should have called it "Copper Ale." Anywhat - They were right about the color, and it was capped with a respectable white head. The aroma was sweet, caramelly, with a touch of hop fruitiness. Same with the flavor, but seemed slightly off. Clean finish. My first will be my last.
