2009-09-26. Dark amber body with a modest off white head and light lace. 3+ Mild sweet malty aroma. 7+ Flavour is similarly malt forward, sweet malt, simple. 7+ Average plus palate is smooth and lightly carbonated. 3+. Lacks complexity but it is a decent example of the style, and is quaffable enough to have a few pints in a sitting. On tap as Oktoberfest at Rock Bottom Chicago

phaleslu (7824) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 1, 2009
Draft at Rock Bottom Cincinnati. Pours amber with a medium off-white head. Aroma of caramel, grain, toast, sweet malts, hops, earth. Flavor of grain, toast, hops, sweet malts, nuts, dried fruit. Smooth, and a little bitter. Not bad, and better than the other two RB beers I tried that visit.

illinismitty (2270) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 30, 2009
Draft at Westiminster. Pours a clear deep copper brown with a light beige head. Lagery and European malt aroma. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Flavor caramel, dark sweet bread, and munich malts. The hopping rate is mild with leafy herbal, but mild and soft bitterness. I think this may be a tad over attenuated for the style, or at least for the examples I love

Tap at KOP. Pours out a moderate hue of amber with a small to moderate off white head sitting on top. Aroma is of caramel, bready/grainy malts and a little bitterness. Taste is clean and easy drinking. Crisp grainy malts, caramel, and a slight noble hop bitterness. Not my style so to speak, but a rather solid effort.

Kind of surprised I hadn’t rated this one yet. Tap at the pub. Pours amber with thin off white head. Aroma of caramel malt and a light touch of hops. Good flavor, well balanced. Still not my favorite style, but well done nonetheless.

Draft at RBC as Oktoberfest Bier. Pours an attractive amber, comes across as more crystal malt than Munich malt with caramel notes and a fair amount of hops coming through as well. Very easy drinking and a nice beer, though not a lot to throw out there about it. Nice.

Location: I venture into the Rock Bottom Bethesda every now and again because it is so close, this is one of their standard seasonal offerings, and I’ve had it a few times on tap

Overall Impression: There isn’t a lot of variety in Oktoberfest beers, and this one is pretty similar to the rest. It’s got a decent flavor, but it’s a too thin...

(Draught, 4.8% abv version) Pours a hazy deep amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of grain, sweet malt, and earthiness. Flavor of toasted grain, nuts, and hops (grass, earth).

Draught at Colorado Springs (10/7/08)-Pours an amber with a nice white head. Aroma of malt. Taste of malt and hops. This medium bodied brew was pretty well balanced and hoppier than most Märzens.
