Rock Bottom San Diego Pirate Pilsner

Draft. Orange straw color, with a small creamy white head. Sweet malt with a mild sulfer tinge in the aroma. Spicy herbal hops and grainy clean malt flavors. Finish is a residual spiciness with sulferous malt. Mouthfeel is light, crisp and smooth.

(Draft: Rock Bottom in San Diego, CA) Very malty and enjoyable pilsner in the European tradition, along the lines of Pilsner Urquell but not as smoky; Moderately bitter and hoppy; Stays malty through to the finish; The aroma is malty and mildly hoppy; Clean and crisp palate; Nice, golden color; White head lasts for a few minutes before fading to a sheen; Minimal lacing; Overall, this is definitely a solid effort and an unexpected surprise from a brewery that normally puts out good but unspectacular beers, so nice job!
