3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap and served to a stemmed ale glass at the loft bar in the Warrenville RB. Displayed a dark brown, with a modest amount of off white/cream colored head foam, and dots & dashes of lacing. The aroma was soft malt, some roastiness, dryness, and maybe just a hint of caramel. Light to medium bodied, light fizz to the better than soft carbonation, the flavor was moderately bitter, finished dry, and was rather drinkable. Although he was not overly concerned about the style guidelines, I classified Jim’s brew as a Vienna, although it does possess a few of the better Dark American Lager characteristics.
