Editor’s Note: If you had a traditional orange peel and coriander witbier (Belgian Wit, Belgian White, White Ale, or Winter White) from a Rock Bottom brewpub listed at 5.1-5.5% area, it goes under this parent listing.

Pale and with a touch of haze, this ale gets it’s unique flavor from orange peel, coriander, and Belgian yeast.

Crisp, citrus, coriander. Clean. I looked it more than some of the Rock Bottom beers.

Tap in Arlington, VA. Pours cloudy pale yellow, large white puffy head dissipates slowly with great lacing. Aroma is wheat, coriander, lemon, a touch of smoke. Light sweet, wheaty, lemon and coriander in the taste. Light body. Another solid beer for its style.

Serving: Draft at Rock Bottom Charlotte. It pours a hazy yellow with a small white head. Strong orange zest nose. The flavor is overwhelming orange zest, coriander, and perfume notes with an off sweetness. Cloying and leaves a film on the tongue. Not for me.

On tap at Richmond Short Pump location. Pours a pale hazed yellow, good head, appearance spot on. Aroma lightly of orange and coriander and wheat. Flavor matches, textbook wit, but the flavors overall were a bit on the light side for my tastes. But nicely done, and easy drinking.

September 10th, 2012 - My second birthday beer of the night was the White Ale. The smell reminds me of a strange mixture of plantains or unripe bananas, but then an ester heavy scent of artificial banana flavoring, like in the American candy Laffy Taffy. There’s also a clove note, but it seems to be more of an afterthought than a scent welded into the bouquet. The foretaste is spicy, with chili and pepper that peak at the beginning of the sip, but last through to the aftertaste, when this white ale curiously becomes a melody of peppered salami and the flavor of grilled corn husks. Strange flavors, though not entirely disagreeable.

On draft at the brewery/restaurant. Lovely hazy orange body with an inch of fluffy white head that retains well. Thick, sifting cascades of lacing on the glass. Nice nose of citrus and cream. Flavors include vanilla, herbs like coriander, orange peel. Medium carbonation and light body. Excellent white! Very refreshing and tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
