Cornfield (4343), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Jan 15, 2007 While it lacks some of the classical elements of a malt liquor, such as diesel fumes and a tinny aftertaste, this is nonetheless a drinkable lager. It pours a golden body with slow moving bubbles and a sustained, creamy one-fingered head... just a tad out of style in the head area. The corn doesn’t come out in the aroma until it warms for a bit. Before then, you catch some grainy sweet malts and a light pat of grassy hops. There’s just the lightest presence of alcohol in the flavor, the sweet malt & corn melding together with the faint hops just enough to make it digestable. Okay. Rock Bottom Yorktown, Lombard, IL
Drnk_McDermott (1565), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Jan 11, 2007 Sampler. Thanks to bartender Sean for the pre-tapping preview! Lite pils color with a thin head that makes it look just like a Colt .45. Detectable corn in the nose and taste, but they’re admitting to it. Taste is otherwise in the light lager range, but thankfully minus the strange overprocessed chemical traces of commercial malt liquors. Alcohol is undetectable to me, but toward the end I get a nice sting of German hops. Finishes with a bit of yeast, but as noted, it’s a very new tapping.
