Ughsmash (2612), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA May 1, 2008 Growler at Flossmoor – Pre-DLD. Poured dark brown with a nice cap of beige head. The aroma picked up sweeter milk chocolate and lactic notes with a very pleasant feel to it. The flavor found the same milk chocolates with a touch of anise.. longer finish with very nice balance. Medium-bodied, sweet, and smooth on the palate.. not complex per-se, but mighty tasty!
mgoy (237), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA May 9, 2008 On tap at Rock Bottom Yorktown. Rock Bottom Yorktown Milk Stout is a deep-brown/ black color with a very airy and inconsistent mocha colored head. The aroma is lighter with notes of coffee and some roasted malts. This has a very good finish and is not at all watery, however, this is missing a bit of needed flavor. BBB63 (3619), La Porte, Indiana, USA Apr 27, 2008 Growler at the pre-DLD party at Flossmoor, thanks bwkrieger: Nearly opaque with a creamy head and nice lace. The aroma has notes of oats, lactic acid, chocolate, vanilla, prune, charred and roasty malt, and a bit grassy hop. The taste displays malty chocolate and and bit of banana but bread with a twangy fruit note in support. A hint of smoke and mineral upon the finish. The mouth feel is smooth and slick, a touch thin. A solid offering all told. Drnk_McDermott (1477), Park Forest, Illinois, USA Nov 3, 2006 Sampler glass. This was off their regular tap, and the bartendress, who turns out to know her beer, said to let this warm up a bit. But during that time, I had a bowl of their chili, so my tasting is skewed. After sitting for 15 minutes, it still shows a thin tan head marked by dark brown "craters" of bubbles past, over a deep brown/black beer. The foam forms a nice coating on the sides of the glass as I drink. Smells good and roasty, with more coffee roast to it than chocolate. Taste shows a very silky, oatmeal type texture, and a slight viscosity. Despite the roasies, I found it very smooth. Not as sweet as they claim, but a very nice beer that I hope to return for a full mug of. Cornfield (4222), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Nov 1, 2006 As usual with a nitroed pull, a good looking drink, a nearly black brown body with a good lacing, creamy brown head. The aroma, always muted under such circumstances, is a sweet roasted malt, a bit of roasted barley, and a dash of milk chocolate. Too smooth of a mouthfeel for my indelicate senses. Very sweet malty taste, the roasted part of the aroma receeding greatly. Chocolate covered caramel and a Tootsie Roll. More for the seasoned stout drinker than for this hop-head. <font size=-4> Rock Bottom Yorktown, Lombard, IL<font size=-1>
