Huge head atop dark brown body. Aroma is nutty malty, minimally sweet. Taste is quite nutty, lightly roasty, and medium sweet. Medium body that shows off a pleasant combo of the roasty and the sweet.

A solid brown ale. Pours brown, with decent head. Aromas and flavors of malt, almonds, and slight caramel. Finishes smooth and crisp. Very nice nut brown.

Im not a big fan of brown ales, but this one is not bad. Nice nutty aroma with little hope presence in the nose. Small to medium beige head with good retention. Nice dark malty taste with some nutty character, but perhaps a little light in flavor and in alcohol as it is only 4.2% alc by volume. Tasted good in my mouth and had a good aftertaste but not the best brown ale and not thier best beer overall.

Dark brown in colour, almost completely opaque (about 90% probably) with a nice tan head which started out about 2 centimetres thick but is now about 2 millimetres thick and looks like it came from nitrogen. The smell is actually pretty nice: alcohol, port, cherries and roasted malt are all very prominent. The taste is very bad: sour cherries, skunky malt, and a tad of bad hops. I might have had a bad bottle here, but I got mine right next to JonR888710's (see below) so maybe something is wrong. The aftertaste is very sour and not pleasant at all. After buying a style that I usually hate just because it was new (actually its an old one: this was labeled Rock Creek still) to me, I feel pretty bad for doing it. I definately don't reccomend buying this beer if it tasted like mine...but it probably won't since it seems like i'm the only one mentiontioning these crazy characteristics. I bought this twelve ounce bottle from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia and will probably buy another to re-rate this one.

Maybe a bad bottle? Appearance was a nice reddish brown, appropriate fading head. The aroma was almost negligible, very faintly of an old carpet. The initial flavor was one of decent malt nuttiness, but it rapidly became thin and a bit watery. The finish was actually a bit sour, which no one else has noted. Need to re-rate with a fresher bottle.
