3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Fresh tap pours a mostly clear deep orange gold with off white frothy foam and lots of lacing. The aroma is surprisingly modest with some boozy sweetness from large amounts of grain and some fresh floral citrus pine. The flavor is very rich and grainy with an over abundance of hops. There is a myriad hop bitter, making it earthy and dense with a slightly more contained flavor for a huge iipa, some dried oak and pine, dried flowery bouquet, and an orange peel tilt that drops right into the pale malts and then goes back to over running them. The finish is not totally dry and there is a sweet honey malt and barley that linger with the dense hop character of dried hay, orange peel, and earthy herbal bitters that become more broad with warmth. This is at first sip more approachable than a founders devil dancer, possibly as good for an American iiipa.
