COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our traditional Tripel was aged in Middle West Spirits OYO Whiskey Barrels. This limited batch Tripel reveals the beauty of working together.

Sampled at the Societe Party 2016. It poured a golden color with an off-white head. The aroma was of whiskey, oak, yeast, citrus and malts. The taste was similar to the aroma with more whiskey, oak, citrus and some peppery notes. Good stuff.

Sampled at a fest. Hazy dingy orange gold. Cool label. This reminded me more of a complex blonde. Subtle fruit with oak and yeast, but not Belgian. A hint of funk. Earth and lemon. Interesting and flavorful. Alcohol is well hidden.

Refrigerated 75 cl brown bottle corked poured into a tulip. Hazy orange with very small off-white head. Aroma is nice oak, medium body, very low carbonation, and no lacing. Taste is malty, oak, honey, some whiskey, a little vanilla, and hints of alcohol.

Hazy golden coloured body with an orange glow and no head at all - no carbonation when popping the champagne cork either. Aroma of alcohol, bourbon, grain, booze, lemons, oranges, hops, caster sugar and more oak. Full-bodied; Strong alcohol and booze at first with some oak and dry grass right afterwards - immediate burn from the alcohol afterwards with a little sweetness from caster sugar and light fruits. Aftertaste shows some complexity without any carbonation, with oak, light hops, toffee and pears coming through coupled with the bourbon and grain. Overall, an interesting beer, especially without the carbonation. Complex as expected, but fairly one-dimensional with a lot of the flavours geared toward the barrel aging and the dryness with a lot of depth from the pure alcohol. Neat to try, but not worth it, especially at this price point and even more-so when this was aged for a bit and still shows a big harsh alcohol bite. I sampled this 37,5 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in New York (Bowery), New York on 17-July-2014 for US$13,99 sampled at home in Washington a day before leaving for Chicago (close to Ohio) on 12-November-2015.

Bottle:   Looks like an oranged hued creamed honey, thin sudsy white head, little lacing.   Bit of a pale bready nose, slight oak, even seems a bit vinous.   Yeasty and doughy on the tongue, pale breadiness, with a strong Oak presense.   Still has that it of vinous or white wine character.   Little carbonation, could stand to have a bit.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Bordering on being a bit too doughy, but it quickly gives way to the Oak character.   Really flat on the tongue, needs some carbonation.   Underlying Tripel seems mild to moderate, but that Cask aging really dominates. &nbps Somewhat enjoyable, but would be better of with a bit less aging and a bit more Tripel.

12.7 oz bottle - thx Mike! A repeat for me - more whiskey forward than the larger format as I recall. Some apple notes. Medium body & carbonation.

Bottle. Oak, apple, vanilla, spice, honey, syrup, whiskey. Light hazy Orange apple cider like pour with minimal white head. Syrup. But medium to full body. More acidity would be better
