750 ml to oversized snifter, Looks good; a murky orange with thin white lacing. Smells and tastes of bourbon and tripel with a good mouthfeel. Nice.

750 ml C&C bottle served in a Portsmouth tulip. Let’s hope this tick from Alex (Masterski) is better than the base.
A: Pours a hazy gold peach with a thin white head forming on the pour. It leaves some soapy lace behind.
S: Very fruity esters in the nose and they are very sweet as well, almost like a fruit roll-up. Sweet cherry and heavy whiskey finish out the nose.
T: The whiskey is a touch harsh, but I don’t mind it. It’s a little hot, but the sweet caramel flavor from the barrel and the slight yeast counter acts this a little bit. The fruit smells from the nose didn’t really transition to the taste.
M: Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and nice carbonation. The finish is a little hot.
O: Much better than the base beer. It still needs some time to mellow, but it was pretty solid.

750 mL bottle supplied by Drsilverworm -- many thanks! Consumed alone in front of some dumb Elizabeth Rice movie. Ended up scrapping that idea and drank the remainder of Rockmill’s CAT outside on a beautiful 74° F afternoon with my dog by my side. It took a lot of energy to remove the cork, however, but it wasn’t erruptive nor was any other aspect of the decorking loud. Just a fiant hissing "pop". It pours an unfiltered strawed skin-tan with only a few off-white bubbles rising and dropping off the surface. Has this specific Tripel been soured? My instinct is telling me that it was indeed: has phenolic aromas, brett, honey, peaches, cashews and whiskey heat on the nose. Much sweeter than I originally anticipated. I get sweet malts, some wine-like funk, oak, peach syrup, acid, and perhaps just the littlest amount of hop bitterness which was low-key and very earthy and floral in taste. This is good but I would like to have tasted more oak; overall this was a thrilling opportunity.

Huge popping gushing, barely got the cage off before the cork was denting the ceiling! The aroma brings the sweet tripel notes first and then sweet whiskey notes come in somewhat potently. The flavor is similar, but the whiskey comes in quite potently on a champagne like body.

Bottle from Belmont Party Supply, Dayton. Glad to have picked this one up, as the particularities of heavy, sharp American tripels seem to go naturally with barrel-aging (see Mother Earth’s for a similar success story). Handsome pale orange pour, cloudy and bedecked with a mighty head. Very prominent wood in nose and taste, verging into coconut/wheatwine territory. Fruity and ripe yeasts too, big beer, fairly well done.

Dark orange color with white small/no head and little lacing. Aroma and flavor are full of a mix of spices and sweet smoothness. Alcohol not too evident. Nice, but I’ve had better Tripels that didn’t cost $23 a bottle.

Murky gold color out of the caged cork bottle. Nose of yeast and whiskey. This bottle only gave a subtle pffft when opened. More carbonation may have helped. Lots of whiskey barrel flavors with oak and vanilla. Orange peel and lemon with yeast and some bready notes. I do not think that triples benefit from the barrel. Interesting brew.
3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 mikesaum (426) - Newark, Ohio, USA - MAR 13, 2012
Corked and caged, cloudy orange pour, almost apple cider like, inlike the others I got no head....at all, this brew was actually quite still, and I had no pop with my cork? Wondering if it was botched. Aroma is quite fruity and spicy, hints of whiskey, over ripe bananas and spices, some peach aromas as well. Taste is complex, again with the whiskey, oak undertones, and over ripe bananas, I want some carbonation but this is flat, the mouthfeel is not great, but the taste is, ill have to try another bottle and review again to see if this bottle was damaged in any way.

Bottle. Hazy orange pour with a white head. Huge oak and bourbon elements. Delicious!

Bottle. Poured cloudy golden color with a large frothy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Complex woody, citrus, whiskey and yeast aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation and thin particles. Medium to heavy whiskey complex flavor with a medium to heavy complex sweet finish of moderate duration with a small alcohol bite. This is a refreshing standout beer.
