750 ml bottle into chalice, bottled on 3/18/2012. Pours moderately hazy golden amber color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass, with moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of big pear, apricot, grape, apple, lemon, peach, clove, pepper, candi sugar, light honey, bread, herbal, oak, light vanilla, light whiskey, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and malt notes with light-moderate barrel presence; and good strength. Taste of big pear, apple, apricot, grape, peach, vanilla, toffee, candi sugar, oak, clove, whiskey, pepper, light honey, bread, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of pear, apple, apricot, lemon, peach, vanilla, toffee, oak, candi sugar, clove, pepper, herbal, bread, whiskey, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, malt, and whiskey barrel flavors; with great balance of malt/yeast/barrel flavors and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a slick, smooth, and slightly syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome barrel aged tripel. All around great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, malt, and whiskey barrel flavors; and quite smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

On tap. First pour off the keg... Cloudy dark golden color. Thin white head. Couple loose dots of lace. Medium to bigger body. Not as thick as expected. Very light carbonation. Lightly dry in the finish. Pleasant whiskey barrel aroma. Some vanilla, light wood, works well with the banana flavor I’m getting from the base. Light bitter, light sweet, some whiskey type alcohol warmth in the flavor, light bite from the whiskey. Light bit of spice, little beglian yeast flavor.. Maybe a hint of tartness. Solid, interesting, very big-flavored beer... But as far as whiskey barrel -aged tripels go, this has nothing on Allagash Curieux in my opinion... For me that was perfection of the style

Big thanks to Scot for sharing this one. Cheers, my friend! Pours a hazy yellow-brown with a white head. Nose is apple, yeast, booze, some bourbon, and oak. Flavor is a nice blend of sweet malt, some booze, some yeast, some oak, bourbon, sweet apple, and caramel. Light to medium in body, and sweetly boozy overall.

750ml bottle corked and caged poured a light cloudy orangish yellow color with aromas of light whisky, grain, light sweet fruit and a touch of spicy yeast. Flavors follow suit light fruit and booze up front by some yeasty aftertaste. Thanks to the kind person who brought it to the tampa weekly tasting, this was a pretty good beer.
