4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
~6oz pour from a bottle, at the brewery. Totally hazy amber brown color, slightly reddish. Good thin beige head. Solid ropes and dots of lace. Bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Awesome, creamy texture. Great caramel, lighter dark fruit. Hint of vanilla. Very well-integrated, subtle, and complex. Moderate bitter taste, moderate sweet - sweetness is not at all bothersome here, very enjoyable, with a light pleasant alcohol warmth. Flavor profile suggests a light bourbon character even, though I know there is no bourbon involved here... No surprise that I remember really enjoying the cask-aged version, this base is perfect for it. Probably the best dubbel Iíve ever had, very impressive. Far exceeded my expectations, made me rethink the style.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a hazy copper with a two-finger, rocky, beige head that slowly dissipates to a quarter-inch head. Aromas of malt, fruity esters, spicy fruit. Flavors are brown sugar, caramel, plum, and spice. Finish is orange peel, dried fruit, and caramel, with a noticeable alcohol burn. Medium to heavy on the palate. Overall, a very nice beer. Complex, but malty and smooth. Very well made. I would definitely buy this one again.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
8/06/2011: Rockmill Dubbel Organic Abbey Ale... Aroma: A bit dry and dusty backed by fruity caramel malt (reminds me of Marris Otter malt) and Belgian fruit. Appearance: Amber color, fairly opaque; bubbly beige-colored head. Flavor: Plum, fig, vanilla, fruity caramel malt; date sweetness; some alcohol coming through along with some raisin and golden raisin. Palate: Medium to medium-full, smooth mouthfeel, good texture. Overall: Pretty good Dubbel; probably my favorite of the Rockmill offerings.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Shared by Skyview. I like Dubbels but this one has some problems. Lots of yeast, and almost sour. Malt, and highly carbonated, more so than I expect of the style, and sweet, which is fine. Thin palate. ok.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Positive for the organic part. A standard Americna dubbel though. Dark fruits, lots of yeast.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a dark amber color with a fluffy tan head. Aroma of bread. Taste is not as strong as I would like for a dubbel. Slight malt, dark fruit, bread, water on the palate. Ok beer, but for the price I would pass.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours ruby amber with a small white head. Aroma brings some sweet malts with a bit of caramel, bready notes, pure as well, nice. Flavor brings breadiness, sweet but subtle malts, and a nutty ending.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle thanks to Veldrid: Poured a deep mahogany with a thin to finger tan/beige head. Aroma is strong boozy dark fruit, prunes and roasted malt. Taste is more dark fruit raisin, prunes, roasted malt, and metallic finish that stays sticky on the tongue.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a corked and caged 750 ml bottle at the source. Pours a nice translucent brown amber with a creamy beige head of foam. The aroma has notes of cherries and dark fruits, maybe a light chocolate presence. The taste is sweet and mildly fruity. My favorite of the rockmill beers thus far. Very good.
