3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Shared by Skyview. I like Dubbels but this one has some problems. Lots of yeast, and almost sour. Malt, and highly carbonated, more so than I expect of the style, and sweet, which is fine. Thin palate. ok.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a dark amber color with a fluffy tan head. Aroma of bread. Taste is not as strong as I would like for a dubbel. Slight malt, dark fruit, bread, water on the palate. Ok beer, but for the price I would pass.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours ruby amber with a small white head. Aroma brings some sweet malts with a bit of caramel, bready notes, pure as well, nice. Flavor brings breadiness, sweet but subtle malts, and a nutty ending.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle thanks to Veldrid: Poured a deep mahogany with a thin to finger tan/beige head. Aroma is strong boozy dark fruit, prunes and roasted malt. Taste is more dark fruit raisin, prunes, roasted malt, and metallic finish that stays sticky on the tongue.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a corked and caged 750 ml bottle at the source. Pours a nice translucent brown amber with a creamy beige head of foam. The aroma has notes of cherries and dark fruits, maybe a light chocolate presence. The taste is sweet and mildly fruity. My favorite of the rockmill beers thus far. Very good.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a mahogany color with a nice tan head, aroma is lots of belgian yeast and spice, candi sugar, some booze, and a little bit of dark fruits. Taste is spicy, good clove hints, candi sugar, a bit of caramel malt, some dark cherry and some raisin. Pretty good brew and from my hometown.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
750ml bottle from Dutch’s Bar & Bottle Shop in Cincinnati, OH. Batch 234/235, bottled on 3/13/2012. Pours an amber-ruby colored body with a finger-width, creamy, light tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is big dark fruit esters with a light tartness, dark caramel malts, some bread, apples, and a light spice. Flavor is definitely infected...ugh. Sour, estery dark fruits and apples with a bit of a dark caramel and toastiness. Finishes dry with a slight malt sweetness and hop spicing, but overtaken by the sourness. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a lively carbonation. Overall, I was really looking forward to this, but the infection is pretty bad at this point. I can tell there is a decent malt backing and yeasty bitterness so I’m hoping this is just a bad bottle. Oh well.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 ml bottle into chalice, bottled on 2/25/2012. Pours very hazy reddish brown color with a nice 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some good spotty lacing on the glass, wit ha fair amount of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of cherry, raisin, pear, apple, molasses, pepper, clove, herbal, earth, dark candi sugar, toast, biscuit, and yeast spices. Very nice and well balanced aromas with good strength and complexity. Taste of big raisin, pear, apple, molasses, dark candi sugar, pepper, clove, herbal, earth, toast, and yeast spices. Lightly tart yeast esters on the finish; with lingering notes of light fruits, molasses, herbal, dark candi sugar, pepper, clove, earth, toast, and yeast spices on the finish for a good bit. Great balance of flavors with good complexity, and no cloying sweetness. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly slick and slightly prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after this finish. Overall this is an excellent dubbel. Great flavor complexity and balance; and very smooth to sip on. Very well done and highly enjoyable.
