Shot (276) - Westerville, Ohio, USA - AUG 31, 2013
Pours a hazy copper with a two-finger, rocky, beige head that slowly dissipates to a quarter-inch head. Aromas of malt, fruity esters, spicy fruit. Flavors are brown sugar, caramel, plum, and spice. Finish is orange peel, dried fruit, and caramel, with a noticeable alcohol burn. Medium to heavy on the palate. Overall, a very nice beer. Complex, but malty and smooth. Very well made. I would definitely buy this one again.

tmoreau (3001) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAY 16, 2015
On tap at Warren’s Ale House in Wheaton, IL., showing a hazed, mid-amber color, with a presentable layer of off white head froth, and ribbony cling to the lacing. The nose was light graininess, dried fruit as apricot & peach, with subtle spice, and a hint of caramel sweetness. The taste was similar notes, including a bit more sweetness, some alcohol warmth, tanginess, and low, earthy bitterness. A bit of watery texture, and fair to soft carbonation skewed a hopeful perception of the body to less than medium. Okay, but dull hued, somewhat thin, not too complex, and basically,... not very Dubbel-ish.

Bottle 75 cl. Pours a hazy amber with a lacing, off-white head. Tart, caramellish aroma - rather odd. Medium-bodied, slightly tart, somewhat phenollic and then some caramel. Ends dryish. Completely lacking the complexity of the best Dubbels. 081114
