Sample at the Ale Wine & Spirits Saison tasting on 07/28/2011. The beer pours a hazy amber-orange color with a medium lasting white head. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, yeast and bready malt. Medium body with mildy tart fruit, yeast, and spice flavors. The finish is fruity up front and leaves an herbal yeast aftertaste. Prettty good overall.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Purchased a bottle at belmont party supply for 13.99. It was a very nice looking bottle that was corked and caged and had a rockmill cork. Opened to a very loud pop. Was very well carbonated. Poured an amber color with some orangish hues. Aroma had a lot of malt flavor coming through, probably some aromatic. Some estery yeast notes and a nice clean finish. This was very good but more malt forward than i expected from a brewery going for traditional belgian style beers.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle sample at the Rockmill tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 1/27/10. Pours a hazy amber with a thick off-white head. Malty nose thatís a bit sweeter than the wit, along with some herbal character (almost coriander-ish), some citrus and funk. Malty flavor with some caramel, and a spicy herbal character. Then thereís the slightest hint of vanilla, almost like an oak aged beer, before the bitter grassy finish takes over. Complex and very good saison.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml corked and caged bottle, purchased at a tasting event at the brewery last weekend. Served in a tulip glass, the beer pours a hazy orange/amber color with about an inch and a half off-white head. Head retention is good, with a lot of lacing left on the glass, too. The brew smells like bready malt, Belgian yeast, orange peel, peppery spice, pineapple and lemon. Itís a nice spicy and fruity aroma. It tastes like peppery spice, lemon peel, bready malt, yeast and some earthy hops. Good earthy/spicy finish. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, itís well carbonated and a bit dry. Drinkability is good, itís certainly easy and enjoyable to drink. I think this is a good overall brew, another quality Rockmill beer in my opinion. I wouldnít have any problems buying this again.
