BeerandBlues2 (2514), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jun 30, 2008 Draught at brewery. Pours black with a small, fizzy, dark brown head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, chocolate, coffee), light hops (grass), average yeast (leather) with notes of wood, smoke, and tar. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, and acidity, moderate bitterness. prosqtor (408), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Jan 20, 2008 Rated from old notes I found this morning. From the tap at the brewpub in 2006. Very dark, but oddly thin and light. It wasn’t the right kind of day for a Stout (about 80-85), but this is pretty good. jcwattsrugger (4045), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Nov 13, 2006 on tap-pours a thin white head and black color. Aroma is coffee, licorice, dark malt. Taste is coffee, licorice, dark malt, slight bitterness. Good carbonation. Not my style but nice.

A dark brown brew with a light head. Liked the malty flavor and the chocolate and coffee undertones. Good use of dark malts. Does seem to be watery in looks and taste. Does not have that thick feel.
Aubrey (2614), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 8, 2005 Deep brown. Very roasty, with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, wood, earth and toasted bread. Sweet malts linger with big molasses. Chewy caramel lingers in the aftertaste. Pretty wholesome stout, albeit on the sweet side.
