BeerandBlues2 (2473), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jul 27, 2005 Dark red garnet with no head. Rapberry is the dominant aroma with some honey and oak notes, slightly port-like. Raspberry flavor, somewhat sugary or jam-like, with honey tones and alcohol acidity. Dry and spicy acidic slightly alcohol burning palate. Ernest (4227), Boulder, Colorado, USA Dec 10, 2004 No head (still). Body is clear medium to dark reddish-purple. Aroma is strong notes of raspberry and raspberry seeds, light notes of honey and fusel alcohol. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, flat carbonation. Overpowering aroma of raspberries and their seeds, and not much else. More like a straight raspberry wine than a melomel. Still, raspberries are one of my favorite fruits, so it’s difficult to not enjoy it. Just too simple and fruit-forward to get a higher score from me. acrdz (4297), Boulder, Colorado, USA Aug 16, 2004 Updated: Aug 2, 2005Medium red color. The nose and flavor are very strong red raspberry seeds, woody almost, and very strong. Robust and dry palate, sweet woody rapsberry flavors with a definite mead character of musty honey.
