PorterPounder (2825), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jul 25, 2008 Lakewood, Oh. - on tap at the Beer Engine. Murky, dark orange colored pour, soft, pillowy white head. leaves good lace. Pleasant floral aroma, light spruce in the back end. Juicy, solid citrus flavor with some minty notes and a faint back end of sweet maple syrup. Clean, even, thickish mouthfeel. Overall, a very decent, solid midwest IPA. TomDecapolis (2416), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 20, 2008 On tap at the Beer Engine. Pours a lightly hazy golden amber with a medium creamy/bubbly off white head that left some lacing. Aroma was a bunch of fresh American hops, lots of citrus notes, light pine, floral, some toasted malt and caramel. Flavor was pretty much the same with some grassy notes, again a bunch of fresh hop flavor and a nice malt backbone. Hop bitterness there, but not overpowering as a good American Pale Ale should be. TheShat (123), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Jun 3, 2008 On tap at RRBC. Draft lloked fantastic. A hazy gold, and a beautiful creamy head that laces the glass the whole way down. The aroma has a hint of citrusness, The malt flavor comes through with some breadiness followed by a soft sort of bitterness that continues into the finish. This was a decent brew. I was pleased with this as I have not been wild about previous offerings from RRBC. fiver29 (303), Strongsville, Ohio, USA May 14, 2008 On tap at a tasting this evening. Pours a orange color with off white head. Had a nice pine smell to it in the background. Only problem was the soap smell upfront. I kept thinking maybe this was a very well washed glass. Then I knew that wasn’t the case when I had a second pour. Mouthfeel was medium. Had a great flavor of pine and malt sweetness. Has a nice flavor overall, but I just can’t get that soap smell out of it. bkelley68 (468), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Aug 2, 2004 Cloudy, faded orange color w/o much head. Lots of pine aromas, but there was also a wierd, kinda off thing going on too that I couldn’t really put a name on. Maybe soap? Anyway, it tasted better than it smelled, with flavors of pine tree and mild malts. Pretty full bodied and oily. Finished with more piney hops. Not the best version of this beer, according to the brewer. Problems with water pressure and the chiller gave him problems throughout the brewing process of this one, so I’ll re rate it next time it’s on.
