3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Large draught sample at the brewpub, June 26 2007. This was listed as "Punched in the Rye" but I can’t for sure tell if it’s a different beer; my experience of it is quite similar to previous reviews here, so here it goes for now. Pours a pale copper-amber, clear, with little head and a bit of lacing...pungent, powerful hoppy-spicy, dry carroway-rye aroma, resinous PNW hops in the background gradually dominate....body is dry and bitter throughout though quite refreshing; very little sugar, which combined with the thinnish body makes for a somewhat too arid finish....flavor balance is excellent though, bitter black pepperiness melding with dark bready malts....if only the body were a bit fuller this could be majestic.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask version at Barley’s 4th Annual Mini RAF (05/13/06): Kind of cool to have 2 brewpub Rye beers to compare and contrast. Pours amber/brown with a medium off-white head and thin sheets of lacing. Aroma of rye and citrus. Medium-bodied with a nice blend of malt and rye flavors, along with some citrusy hops behind it all. The rye flavor is not as robust in the finish, however it is still a pretty good session beer from start to finish.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at the MRAF in Columbus, OH. Poured hazy brown with an average rocky off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Heavy sour citrus and grain aroma with a small alcolhol tone. Medium body with a sticky texture. Medium smooth bitter flavor with a bitter finish that lasted. Another standout beer at this fest.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Firkin at MRAF at Barley’s Smokehouse. Nice cloudy amber pour with a foamy offhwhite head. Armos of rye bread, grapefruit hops. Flavor is much of what you smell. Blends together nicely. Slightly bitter finish. Slightly resinous palate but finish is a little watery.
