dankman38 (217), Somewhere in, Ohio, USA Dec 15, 2007 No offense to the brewers but; this sucks ass. I will say that I dislike this style period and only ordered it for my wife but she felt the same as I did. Please don’t produce more of this.
BeerBelcher (698), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Dec 23, 2007 I’m not tremendously experienced with Weizenbocks, but I’ve to meet one I didn’t like, which includes this one. This beer has a strange appearance and some unexpected flavors, but I thought it to be quite enjoyable.
Appearance was a murky brown with lots of haze and only a little bit of soapy head. Aroma was very clovey and a bit fruity but with more there that I couldn’t identify. Flavor was more cloviness, with a bit of bubble-gum flavor (ethyl hexanoate?) and some metallic-copper flavor at the end. Mouthfeel was unremarkable. I thought this beer to be quite appropriate for winter, yet still very drinkable.
I’d have this again, but I’ve had beers I’ve enjoyed more from this brewery. I had this on-tap at RRBC with some stuffed pretzels. jsquire (1848), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Dec 22, 2007 On tap at the pub. Murky brown beer with a small biege slick of a head. Nose of bubblegum, clove spice and caramel corn. Tastes of puffed wheat, syrupy caramel and lightly toasted bread. Light mouthfeel. Some banana and mild clove, but the spiciness shows mostly in the finish. bkelley68 (468), Lakewood, Ohio, USA Jan 18, 2005 Very murky chesnut/mahogany body with (SURPRISE!!) no head. Textbook yeasty nose with a bit of wheat and bubblegum/cotton candy. Watery body (the brewer agreed with this little nitpick). Malty, with bubblegum sweetness. Finishes a bit yeasty with a light tang of earthy hops. NOt a very strong showing. kujo9 (1043), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA Jan 18, 2005 On tap @ RR during Cleveland micro crawl 1/15/05: Average off white/light beige head on a cloudy mohogany colored body. Laces very well. Toasted wheat malt and some bubble gum esters dominate. Also a light clove, but the esters seem a little light for a WB. No banana, no plum esters, but then again alcohol is a little light. Well balanced in the flavor. Some light bubble gum, clove spicyness, and light toasted & wheat malt flavor; overall thin. Drier finish and a liittle astringent w/ an herbal hop flavor. Medium body, medium carbonation, and lightly astringent from hops. IMHO it could be a little more smooth and a lot less astringent. It’s not over the top, but it’s not what I expected from a WB.
