Big thanks to Goldtwins who gave me this bottle about five years ago. Iím sure sitting on it isnít doing it any favors so Iíve decided to celebrate Alabamaís National Championship by opening this. Pours a Coca-Cola caramel color with deep red highlights. A quickly dissipating head, also reminiscent of Coca-Cola. Fruity aromas fill the room simply from the pour. Somewhat biscuity, cherry aroma. Tart and leathery. Cherries, sweet malt and balsamic flavors. Slight notes of tobacco. Pretty thick mouthfeel. Much better years ago but still a nice beer. Overly acetic. Vinegar and malt. Acidic aftertaste. Roll Tide!!

Pours a deep reddish brown on tap with bubbly pink tan head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of funky barrel sour notes and big dark fruit. Taste follows, acidic and fruity, neither over the top. Bubbly carbonation, amazing to find on tap.

Dark red pour that smells like fresh cherries galore. Not a huge fan of the taste. I love cherries but this tastes like some fake sweetness was added to it.

Most recent batch. Paid $13.99 at local Co-Op. Dark red pour. 3 finger egg white head that faded to a single One finger. Smells great. Cereal, cherries, plum and wood. Hmm. This is pretty darn good. Cherry is sweeter than I expected. Juicy, tart. Very sour in the middle. Finish is cherry salad, vinegar, oak, wine and Brett. Nice mouthfeel fro, the bottle conditions. This will age very well I think. Itís very sweet now but thatís temporary.

2016 batch, on draft in a goblet. Color is a rusty copper. Canít remember the last time a I got a new top 50 tick, let alone on draft. Murky rusty copper. Half a finger of khaki head that reduced to a slight skim with a thicker ring around the edge. Aroma is tart fruit juice. I would say more cranberry then cherry. Taste is juicy, like a alcoholic ocean spray. Touch of balsamic vinegar. Tart acidic cherry and cranberry on the back end. Strong red/brown sour malt base. Pretty good stuff, unbelievable that they were making this stuff so long ago when the sour scene just took off recently. A lot of stuff has caught up and passed it, but itís great to finally taste the godfather of the fruited sour.

1986 vintage: Color: a red-tinged copper. Smell: sourly sweet, pleasing. Taste: One of the best beers I have had. Nice sour cherry that strengthens as it warms. Not astringent. This could be drunk all day on a hot summer day. The new version tastes nothing like the old. The new 2016 is a completely different beer. It doesnít hold up to the old version. I donít know why they are being rated together.

25 cL bottle poured into a snifter. Didnít record the year of the bottle, probably 2000. Originally reviewed 12/20/2014. Deep reddish brown. Some large chunks of bubbles. A few wisps on the surface. Cherries are still quite apparent. Deep caramel. It is a little bit medicinal, but just a little. Taste is surprisingly good. Bright cherries. Nice tartness. Caramel malt. Clean finish. Lingering cherry flavor. Low carbonation, if any. Medium body. Remarkably good, especially for its age.

Best before 1991. Bruin koper helder bier met een kleine witte schuim kraag. Ruikt ranja, alcohol, zoet, zuur. Smaakt zoet en zuur. Ranja, zoet fruit, druiven.

Rhubarb and cherry aroma. Crisp and smooth with a hint of sour. Much better than the normal Rodenbach. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml bottle at the July DC tasting. Poured a very ruby red color with a very light dull off-white pink head. Aroma was boozy apricot, stonefruit. Light woody vinous notes. Light tartness. Very tasty.
